THANK YOU, MR. CORTINA, THANK YOU MARISTAS CLASS AND ALL THE PARTICIPANTS IN THE SKYPE CALL THIS MORNING!!!
This morning we had an awesome international experience between 6th graders in Maristas Cartagena, and 6th graders in John Diemer Kansas City.
The story started a month ago, when we received an envelope full of letters written by Mr.Cortina’s entire class. I gave one or two letters to each of my classmates, and they all worked on answering their pen pals in Spain. My homeroom teacher in USA, Ms.Bregant, was also very excited. She contacted my mom because she wanted to let her know she would love to have a skype with the Spanish class, if possible. Since both homeroom teachers agreed, we all started working on it.
Ms. Bregant wrote a permission form to the parents explaining what the experience was about. We did it this
ALBA’S DIARY-2ND PART
Since I am already writing, I will let you know a little bite more about my trip. Before the weather got bad, I still had time to do some outdoors stuff. I was invited to a tennis camp by the USTA in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was a very fun experience, I enjoyed it very much.
There has been snow everywhere. The picture bellow is my school during winter time. When it gets extremely bad, we get a day off school, the so called “SNOW DAYS”. Only if we miss many days, we have to make up days at the end of the school year. So far, we end school the 23rd of May.
On Saturday evenings, a very common thing here is bowling. People of all ages, families, they all go bowling. Bowling alleys are huge, you can have dinner and they are “very American”.
One weekend, we went to visit an old farm that has been turned into a museum. The employees were dressed in old suits, it was very cool!
By the middle of March, we had Spring Break. We had around ten days off. We used those days to travel to Saint Louis and Chicago. This amazing Arch in Saint Louis, represents the entrance to The Middle West. It is situated just where the caravans started their way to the Middle West. Chicago was an amazing city too. The skyscrapers were huge. We went up the John Hancock Center and the views were absolutely breathtaking.
Well, lots of kisses for everyone!!!! Thank you for the skype and for your letters. See you soon!!! Time flies, and the year is almost over.
